The Pursuit of God

When I was given the opportunity to read and review “The Pursuit of God” by A. W. Tozer in this new reprinting by Bethany House publishers, I hesitated. I’ve always heard this author’s name in church circles and have heard dozens of people recommend this book, but I wondered if it was going to be dry and more religious than relational and relatable. I decided to go for it and give it a try, and ended up reading a chapter a day, finishing in a little over a week. It’s a short read but one that I found myself reading slowly and wanting to absorb. It is no less relevant today, and while the writing style isn’t as “easy” to read, I thought of it like reading poetry, in the sense that it was beautifully crafted and worded but made you think a little more about what it meant. At the same time, it was so understandable and my spirit delighted in it. I agreed with it wholeheartedly and wondered why more people don’t share Tozer’s perspective in action, as much as I hear his books mentioned. “The Pursuit of God” exceeded all my expectations and is on track to be my favorite book I read in 2020. I have already passed it along to a friend, downloaded digital and audio copies as well, and have recommended it to my family. I don’t think I’m going to stop talking about this one anytime soon! I highly recommend it. I think it’s even available for free through Prime reading on Amazon if you are a prime member.

Thank you to Bethany House for re-introducing this to a new generation, and for providing me with a copy to read and review. All opinions are my own genuine thoughts, and were not required to be positive.
